The May 2013 Mobile Monday Nigeria Event [Recap]

The May 2013 Edition of  Mobile Monday Nigeria focused on Big Data and its benefits to Nigerian Businesses. It was also the first time we used our new venue. Yes, we are now at the E-Learning Centre, Odunlami Street, Lagos Island. It was an insightful event that helped to showcase the benefits of Big Data to attendees.

First up was OpenApps. OpenApps ( http://www.openapps.com.ng ) aims to become a key source of analytics data for website owners. According to its website OpenApps is a market intelligence system that aggregates Internet users behavior from multiple high traffic sources to support the development of intuitive digital services in Nigeria. This behavioral data allows designers, website owners to know what platforms are being utilized the most and also what medium is being used to access the websites that are members of OpenApps.

Some of the members are CCHub, Eventiso, Mobile Monday Nigeria and others. Chuka Ofili demoed the website and explained how the statistics could be used to make informed decisions during the design stage of a website or web application.

Next up was Whogohost. WhoGoHost has proved itself to be a major force in the web hosting and domain registration business in Nigeria. Toba Obaniyi of WhoGoHost came up to talk about the services that they offer, and how their offering was better that most of what you would get in the industry. And lastly, We had 47th Avenue come up to talk about their new Mobile Business District which allows you to trade items in a virtual Business District. You can learn more by visiting 47th Avenue.

Before the event came to a close, Lanre Folarin of Mobile Monday Nigeria came up to give closing remarks and Olatomi Davies came up to talk about Mobile Monday Nigeria Membership. We will post details on how to become a paid annual member of  Mobile Monday Nigeria later this week.
