July 2013 MoMoNigeria Event – Location Based Services and Its Benefits to Nigerian Businesses (RECAP)

At the event, Location Based Services and its benefits to Nigerian Businesses was discussed. The speakers were Gabriel Dada of Twinpine, Aniedi Udo-Obong of Audax and Jacqueline Raquai of Google.

The First speaker, Gabriel Dada Spoke about Location Based Advertising and how Twinpine’s ad serving platform works. He also gave some statistics about Online Advertising:
– 78% of Nigeria’s internet users are between the ages of 19-35.
– There are at least 9 Million Nigerians on Social Media
– There were more website visits from Mobile (60.69% of traffic) than Desktop (30.31% of traffic)

Location Based Mobile Advertising

Up next was Aniedi from Audax. Aniedi spoke about Mobiwork, a mobile workforce system that helps companies keep track of their field sales staff while they are away on the field. He also mentioned in his presentation that it can be used by companies who offer delivery services to track how long it took for a package to be delivered. Mobiwork, he said, is a powerful solution for Mobile workforces as well as Office based workforces and customers.

And the final speaker was Jacqueline Raquai, Program Manager at Google. She spoke on the latest developments in Google Maps, how Local Businesses can benefit from being listen on Google Maps. She also mentioned that Google Latitude is being closed, Offline Google Maps is being discontinued and Location Sharing is coming to Google+.

The event ended with the networking session.
