Nokia X Portathon Winners collect prizes

On the 30th of April 2014, MobileMonday Nigeria hosted a private prize presentation session with the participants who were selected as winners from the Nokia X Portathon. The criteria for winning the prizes were as follows; Participation at the Nokia X Portathon which held on the 27th and 28th of April 2014, and Membership of MobileMonday Nigeria (which costs 1000 Naira Only, Interest form at the end of this post).

The prizes were as follows; First Place Prize of $1000, Second Place Prize of $750, and Third Place Prize of $500. The Consolation Prize for the rest of the Winners was a Nokia X Device for each of them courtesy of Nokia Nigeria.

After a month-long process of selecting winners (which involved usage of all the qualifying Apps which were ported at the Nokia X Portathon), the winners selected were as follows

  • Cash Prize Winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd)
    • Ayooluwa Ajekola: She won the First Place Prize for Wazobia Translator. Wazobia Translator is  a simple app that helps you translate words from English language to any of the three major Nigerian languages (yoruba, hausa, igbo) and vice versa. The app also allows translation between the different languages e.g Yoruba to Igbo, Igbo to Hausa, etc

    • Bukola Akinfaderin: She won the Second Place Prize for Jandus Radio. Jandus Radio is an app that allows you listen to the best Online and Live Radio Stations playing Afrohiphop, R&B, Hiphop, Reggae and Soca stations from all over Africa, the US and the Caribbean.

    • Peter Ekerete: He won the Third Place Prize for Recipes from Nigeria. The app consists of different variety of dishes in Nigeria – local and continental.
