In recent times, gender inequalities have been a concern to world leaders. It becomes more pronounced in cases where men are predominantly favoured over women. Numerous policies in different countries have been (and are being) formulated to address this bane.
In this vein, Intel Corporation and Ashoka Changemakers are not folding their arms. They have decided to join the race to gender equality by launching a contest themed “She Will Innovate: Technology Solutions Enriching the Lives of Girls”. This contest is aimed at sourcing for the world’s best innovative ideas to improve the lives of girls and women.
According to the Ashoka Changemakers’ website, “this challenge is designed to promote information and communication technology solutions that improve the lives of girls and women.”
The three ideas that best demonstrate innovation, impact and sustainability will receive a price of $10,000 each from the duo. Asides this, “entries submitted before July 18, 2012 are also eligible for an Early Entry Prize of $500”. The deadline for the submission of entries is August 15, 2012.
