July 2013 MoMoNigeria Event – Location Based Services and Its Benefits to Nigerian Businesses (RECAP)

At the event, Location Based Services and its benefits to Nigerian Businesses was discussed. The speakers were Gabriel Dada of Twinpine, Aniedi Udo-Obong of Audax and Jacqueline Raquai of Google.

The First speaker, Gabriel Dada Spoke about Location Based Advertising and how Twinpine’s ad serving platform works. He also gave some statistics about Online Advertising:
– 78% of Nigeria’s internet users are between the ages of 19-35.
– There are at least 9 Million Nigerians on Social Media
– There were more website visits from Mobile (60.69% of traffic) than Desktop (30.31% of traffic)

From Turn-by-turn navigation services like Google Maps to crowd sourced Traffic applications like Waze (recently acquired by Google for 1.3bn dollars), Location based services have always helped people to get from one location to another giving them services such as Route Suggestion and Traffic Information to help them get to their destinations on time. Locally focused Traffic Monitoring Apps like traffix are coming up to provide crowdsourced traffic data in Nigeria.

The Mobile Monday Nigeria #momohackathon – As It Happened

Lagos 24th June, 2013:  After several weeks of planning with VConnect Global Services (Operators of VConnect.com), the Mobile Monday Nigeria #momohackathon went underway at the E-Learning Centre, Odunlami Street, CMS, Lagos (which is the new home of Mobile Monday Nigeria’s events) on the 24th of June, 2013 with Developers, Designers, members of the press, staff of both Mobile Monday Nigeria and VConnect present to witness the event as it happened.

The theme of the event was “Entertainment Now” and the aim was to develop a Movie Listing Mobile Web Application using ASP .NET or PHP as the programming environment and Microsoft SQL as the database application.

Recap of the April 2013 Mobile Monday Nigeria Event with Qualcomm

It was a night of discovery for Mobile Developers in Nigeria at the April 2013 Mobile Monday Event. More than 100 Developers gathered to hear what Qualcomm had to offer to the ecosystem. The event held on the 7th Floor of the prestigious Avenue Suites at Victoria Island located at 1390 Tiamiyu Savage Street. There were Demo stands displaying Augmented Reality demos from American Apparel, BandAid, and others with people on standby to display how the demos worked. There were also some developers from Qualcomm in the house to explain how Vuforia works from a developer standpoint.

Qualcomm To Host Developers At April Edition Of Mobile Monday Nigeria

This event is geared towards Mobile Software Developers who develop for Android, iOS, Windows Phone and Blackberry who are interested in Developing Applications with Qualcomm APIs.

Only the first 100 Developers to register will be selected. And successful attendees will be notified a week to the date.
